Legacy Lounge for Harding & Read
As an antique dealer, Matthew Cox has learnt what makes a piece of furniture stand the test of time. Now he is designing furniture he distils this knowledge into every piece he makes. The two large tables, kitchen island and console tables in the VIP Legacy Lounge were all handmade and finished in Matthew Cox’s workshop, using responsibly sourced timber. The Legacy table in the centre of the room was made from offcuts of six different species of timber and ebonised to give a beautiful overall finish. All water used for the finishing is harvested rainwater and the designs, inspired by historic pieces, have been created thoughtfully to minimise waste. By sharing his enthusiasm for the furniture he makes with a keen new generation, Cox hopes that the company’s sustainable methods and sound values thrive into the future.
Everyone in the team worked so hard to get these pieces to the fair on time. Special mention to Charlie, one of our apprentice makers, who grabbed ownership of the Legacy Project with gusto! Daniel, Greg, Steve, Tony and Mike also threw their expertise into the making/finishing and our studio assistant Morgan got us all cheerfully over the finishing line.
Huge thanks to Harding & Read, House & Garden, Decorex, Thorogood Timber and Amos Zamorski who created the perfect music for our film which you can watch here.
