December round-up
December is usually a whirl of festive feasts and fun vying with deadlines and the (not very festive) lurgies...but this year has felt like more like a whirlwind! We've ushered numerous inspiring projects into the workshop schedule for 2024. We love it when designers or private client test the limits of our designs inviting us to conceive and make completely bespoke pieces for their space. Our workshop team will be moving from 0 to 60 mph on January 2nd to bring them to being. It means we’ve had to extend our furniture leadtime to 12 weeks but we’re working to tame the schedule and return to our usual 10-week leadtime soon. Just something to bear in mind.
The Christmas decoration extravaganza is always a highlight of December and this year, with the house playing host to a record number of client visits, team events and a houseful of Coxes & McLeans for Christmas, it's been a special operation. Matthew’s mother (Pearl Bugg) weaved her magic on the 17th century staircase and festooned the house with holly, ivy, pomegranates, pumpkins. Miss Pickering raised the game for another year with her sublime over-door berry and hydrangea wreath. I also wrote a poem for Up With the Lark’s winter paper, reminding us that less is often more, in aid of Magic Breakfast. 2024 stretches out ahead like an untrodden blanket of snow. So here's to another year, of treading lightly, taking less and giving more...
