A moment in time for British timber

Native timber is in a fragile — though thankfully improving — position.

The British Isles, once almost entirely forested, have been cleared and mismanaged over five millennia, largely in the service of agriculture. The result is a landscape with few trees of consistent quality or character — and, paradoxically, a culture recognised for its mastery of wood.

Inspired by the vernacular form of early dairy stools, and celebrating the inherent beauty of native species, the milk table is both a nod to that inheritance and an optimistic statement of intent. We believe that, with patience and care, our native timber can once again sit at the centre of meaningful, enduring design. And we know we're not the only ones.
